Is this suitable for vegans?
Yes — our label states it, and the capsule shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) rather than gelatine. Two of the enzymes come from fruit: bromelain from pineapple and papain from papaya. The protease is vegetable-sourced, as stated in our ingredients list.

What is betaine hydrochloride?
Betaine hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of betaine. Each capsule provides 145mg betaine hydrochloride, providing 110.58mg betaine. The product label states that it should not be taken if peptic ulcers are present; see How to take it.
Why does it smell of vinegar?
Because there's apple cider vinegar powder in it — 30mg per capsule — and it carries its own distinct scent. Nothing has gone wrong with the pot; it's simply an ingredient you can smell.
Does it contain gluten?
The formula does not list a gluten-containing cereal; its carrier is stoneground brown rice flour. However, it is not labelled or certified gluten-free. If you have coeliac disease or must avoid gluten, contact us before ordering.
